NCJTFLCA Denies Plans To Set Up Checkpoints On Lagos-Seme Expressway
By Babatunde Aremu
The National Compliance Joint Taskforce Of Licensed Clearing Agents (NCJTFLCA) has denied plans to set up checkpoints on the ever-busy Lagos-Badagry-Seme highway, noting that it is against its advocacy of reducing the number of checkpoints on the highway.
According to the President of the association, Dr. Basil Chudi Nwolisa, any reports that link the association with the setting up of checkpoints are unfounded .
The group was reacting to an recent report that it was planning to set up checkpoints.
Debunking the report, Nwolisa noted that the arbitrary erection of illegal roadblocks has been of major concern to NCJTFLCA and through its advocacy, 60% of illegal roadblocks have been pulled down nationwide.
He added that it is illogical to conceive that a group whose advocacy has resulted in the dismantling of many roadblocks will embark on setting up one.
“There was no such intention, and there were no such plans. Unfortunately, the arbitrary erection of illegal roadblocks has been of major concern to our group.
“Through our advocacy, 60% of illegal roadblocks have been pulled down nationwide. How illogical is it to conceive that a group whose advocacy has resulted in the dismantling of many roadblocks will embark on setting up one? He queried.
Continuing, he vowed that such a thing will not happen under his watch.
“I want you to know that such a thing will not happen under his watch. The logistics and freight-forwarding community are part of our family. We cannot work against our own people. We are not here to subject ourselves to additional stress and hardship.
“We are reformers and not trouble makers” he added.
