Nigeria Customs takes bold steps to ease Trade on Seme – Badagry Highway
By Babatunde Aremu
The Nigeria Customs Service is taking decisive action to improve trade and movement along the Seme-Badagry highway. In a bid to enhance the business environment and promote economic growth, the Customs Service plans to minimize checkpoints on the highway. This move includes dismantling all unauthorized checkpoints, which have been deemed a national embarrassment.
The Customs Service has issued a stern warning to other agencies operating along the corridor, urging them to eliminate unnecessary roadblocks and align with efforts to sanitize the route. Furthermore, the use of “camp boys” — non-official personnel manning checkpoints — has been prohibited. This crackdown aims to reduce harassment and ensure a smoother flow of goods and services.
By streamlining operations and removing unauthorized checkpoints, the Nigeria Customs Service is working to create a more conducive business environment. This move is expected to promote economic growth in the region and enhance the overall efficiency of trade and commerce along the Seme-Badagry highway.
