The African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly has formally confirmed the investiture of Hon. Olumekun Olubunmi Felix as an Ambassador of the African Union Agenda 2063, following a comprehensive nomination and screening process.
The confirmation ceremony, held in Abuja, recognized Hon. Olumekun as a distinguished leader with a proven record of influence, strategic leadership, and commitment to Africa’s socio-economic transformation.
Hon. Olumekun currently serves as President of the Barge Operators Association of Nigeria (BOAN) and the Association of West African Exporters and Maritime Professionals (AWAEMAP). His selection reflects his outstanding contributions to maritime logistics, trade facilitation, job creation, and regional economic development across West Africa.
As an AU Agenda 2063 Ambassador, Hon. Olumekun is entrusted with representing Africa on regional and global platforms, advancing policies and initiatives aligned with the seven aspirations of Agenda 2063 “The Africa We Want.”
Strategic Mandate
In his new role, Ambassador Olumekun will collaborate with other continental leaders to:
* Mobilize resources to support Africa-wide development programs
* Advocate for policies that promote economic growth, regional integration, and trade facilitation
* Foster Pan-African partnerships that strengthen unity, peace, and shared prosperity
The Assembly, chaired by Amb. Amara Thecla Orakwe, Head of the Nomination and Screening Committee, noted that Hon. Olumekun’s expertise in maritime trade and economic development would play a critical role in advancing the objectives of Agenda 2063.
Private Sector Leadership
Beyond public service, Ambassador Olumekun brings extensive private-sector experience to the role. He is the Chief Executive Officer of several leading companies actively driving regional commerce, including:

* Rely Global Resources Limited
* Rely Oil and Gas Limited
* G2G Rely Limited
His leadership across these enterprises highlights his practical understanding of international trade, logistics, and resource management.
Ambassador’s Response
In his acceptance remarks, Ambassador Olumekun expressed deep appreciation for the confidence placed in him by the Assembly.
> “I accept this appointment with a profound sense of responsibility and humility. Agenda 2063 represents Africa’s commitment to shaping its own future. Through my work in the maritime and export sectors, I have seen firsthand the power of collaboration across borders. As an Ambassador, I am committed to advancing policies that position Africa’s maritime gateways as engines of continental integration and economic prosperity.”
He further emphasized his readiness to work closely with the African Union Commission and relevant stakeholders to translate the vision of Agenda 2063 into measurable outcomes that benefit African citizens.
