The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has dismissed reports of a proposed joint ticket between Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Peter Obi for the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued and signed by the National Chairman of the Party Agbo Gilbert Major on Thursday, the party described the anticipation of one million votes for the Kwankwasiya Movement in Kano State as “imaginary, deceptive, and an illusion”.
The NNPP claimed that Senator Kwankwaso has lost his political influence, likening him to a “general without troops”.
The party pointed out that Kwankwaso’s allies in the Kwankwasiya movement have deserted him and the departure of notable figures such as Hon Ali Madaki, Senator Sumaila Kawu, Hon Alhassan Rurum, and others is a clear example that he has lost relevance in politics .
The NNPP warned Peter Obi not to compromise the volunteers of the Obedient Movement by partnering with Senator Kwankwaso. According to the party, Kwankwaso has nothing to bring to the table politically at the moment.
The NNPP also revealed that they had read about ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s alleged efforts to broker a deal between Obi and Kwankwaso. and the NNPPis unconvinced about the prospects of such a partnership.
