PTML CUSTOMS CAC REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR COWA AS HAJIYA NABILA MIKO ASSUMES OFFICE

By Babatunde Aremu

The Customs Area Controller, PTML Command, Deputy Comptroller N.I. Miko, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the new leadership of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association, COWA, PTML Chapter.

Miko gave the assurance on Thursday, June 18, 2026, during the handover ceremony at the PTML Customs Command where Hajiya Nabila Nura Miko formally assumed office as Chairperson, succeeding Mrs. Ifeoluwa Anani.

The CAC described the event as more than a leadership transition, noting that it symbolized continuity, service, and the contributions of Customs officers’ spouses to the NCS family.

He commended Mrs. Anani for her exemplary leadership and impactful projects, saying her administration strengthened the association and positively impacted members and the wider Customs community.

Beyond welfare and infrastructure, Miko highlighted COWA’s role in fostering stability at home, which enables officers to perform their duties in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling operations.

“While officers are engaged in official duties, COWA members ensure that our homes remain stable, peaceful, and productive. A stable home is the foundation of effective service delivery, and for this invaluable contribution, we remain profoundly grateful,” he said.

Congratulating Hajiya Nabila Miko, the Controller expressed confidence in her capacity to build on her predecessor’s achievements and lead the association to greater heights. He assured COWA of the Command’s support through logistics, operations, and moral backing for its programmes.

In her acceptance speech, Hajiya Nabila Miko thanked God for the opportunity, describing her appointment as an honour and responsibility. She paid tribute to COWA National President, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, for her visionary leadership, and acknowledged Mrs. Anani’s dedication and integrity.

“I am committed to consolidating the successes of the previous administration while introducing new initiatives that will further promote COWA’s objectives and enhance the welfare of Customs officers’ wives,” she said.

She listed key programmes by the chapter in recent years: International Women’s Day Celebration, COWA Healthy Wife, Wealthy Life Workshop, Breast Cancer Awareness Campaigns, End-of-Year Outreach, Green Border Initiative School Adoption, and Environmental Sensitisation Lectures.

Hajiya Miko described the initiatives as evidence of the chapter’s commitment to social impact and member development.
