Customs zone A Launches One-Stop-Shop initiative

In a bold move to modernize trade facilitation and streamline cargo clearance, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially launched its One-Stop-Shop (OSS) Initiative at Zone A, headquartered at the Apapa Area Command.

The OSS is designed to serve as a central hub for intelligence coordination and operational synergy, bringing together all Customs subunits under one roof. This integrated approach enables joint inspections and decision-making, Real-time data sharing, centralized documentation, and seamless trader engagement via the Customs portal

Powered by the B’Odogwu digital platform, the system enhances transparency, reduces delays, and fosters inter-agency collaboration.

The launch event on Thursday, 13 November 2025, was attended by key figures including ACG Mohammed Babandede, Zonal Coordinator, Zone A, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, Tincan Island Port, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, Apapa Command, Comptroller Peter Ntadi, and Western Marine Command.

Also present were representatives from freight-forwarder associations, terminal operators, and licensed Customs agents, who praised the initiative while voicing implementation concerns.

Expected Benefits are that cargo dwell time will reduce to 48 hours, there will be lower demurrage costs for importers, improved operational accountability, and alignment with global trade standards.

ACG Babandede emphasized that the success of the OSS hinges on integrity and effective utilization by Customs personnel and stakeholders. He commended the ICT team for their role in deploying the platform and urged all parties to embrace the new system.

With the OSS now active, the NCS reaffirms its commitment to technology-driven reforms that promote efficiency, transparency, and national economic growth.
