*Nigeria Customs Service Warns Against Fraudulent Recruitment CBT Shortlist*

By Babatunde Aremu

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has issued a warning about a fake press release circulating on social media, claiming to announce a shortlist for a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for its ongoing recruitment exercise.

In a statement issued and signed by Assistant comptroller of customs and National public relations officer of Nigeria customs service, Abdullahi Maiwada said the NCS categorically denies issuing such a statement, stating that the CBT mentioned is not scheduled for July 2025.

The NCS confirms that the press release is *fraudulent and did not originate from the Service*. Upon close scrutiny, it is clear that the fake statement contains *several discrepancies, particularly in its formatting*, including an e-signature format that differs from the NCS’s official standard.

The Service urges the public not to engage with, share, or act upon such unverified content, emphasizing that *authentic information about NCS activities, including its ongoing recruitment exercises, will be published only on its official website, verified social media platforms, and recognized national newspapers*.

“The NCS is *taking steps to trace the origin of this false information and will take appropriate action to hold those responsible accountable*”-The statement said.

The Service appreciates the vigilance of concerned Nigerians and reaffirms its commitment to protecting the public from misinformation, ensuring transparency and integrity in its processes.
