Senate confirms Justice Oyewole as Supreme court

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Justice Joseph Olubunmi Kayode Oyewole as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
This confirmation follows the presentation and consideration of the report by the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, led by Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire ¹ ².
Justice Oyewole who was until now a Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, was thoroughly screened by the committee, which found him qualified for the position.
The committee’s report highlighted his competence, experience, and judicial temperament, making him a suitable candidate for the role .
The confirmation was unanimous, with the Senate adopting the committee’s report without opposition. Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, congratulated Justice Oyewole on his new appointment and prayed for divine guidance as he assumes office .
Justice Oyewole fills the Southwest slot on the Supreme Court bench, which was vacated by the retirement of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola.
He was born on May 13,1965 and is an indigene of Ila-Orangun in Osun State.
