Tincan Customs to Go Paperless, Generates N145b in January

By Babatunde Aremu

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tincan Island Port Command, is set to revolutionize its operations with a fully paperless system by the second quarter of 2026. This initiative aims to transform the Command into a one-stop centre for efficient and seamless cargo clearance.

Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Tincan Island Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, revealed this during a media briefing in Lagos, outlining the command’s strategic priorities for the year. The transition is part of the Federal Government’s National Single Window policy, aimed at harmonising processes and enhancing trade facilitation across the maritime sector.

Comprehensive stakeholder engagement and sensitisation programmes will precede the rollout, ensuring a smooth transition to the new system. This move is expected to boost innovation and operational efficiency at the port.
