NCS PR OFFICERS SWEEP TOP HONOURS AT CUSTOMS STAFF COLLEGE GWAGWALADA

Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service Public Relations Unit have recorded a landmark achievement, clinching the best and second-best positions at the Nigeria Customs Service Command and Staff College, NCCSC, Gwagwalada.

The feat came on Friday, June 26, 2026, when the College graduated 50 officers from Senior Course 14 during a ceremony held at the Ahmed Makarfi Hall.

Chief Superintendent of Customs Ridwan Yusuf emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student, winning three additional awards. Chief Superintendent of Customs Nuruddeen Sa’idu followed closely as the Second Best Graduating Student.

Announcing the achievement, the National Public Relations Officer of the NCS, Deputy Comptroller Abdullahi Aliyu Maiwada, PhD, described the performance as “a massive testament to the calibre, intellectual depth, and dedication of the officers in the NCS PR Unit.”

“ They didn’t just pass; they conquered one of the Service’s most demanding professional training programs, proving once again that PR isn’t just about managing images; it’s about top-tier administrative competence and strategic leadership,” Maiwada stated on Friday, June 27.

While expressing immense pride, Maiwada noted that tradition suggests both officers may be retained at the College as Directing Staff to mentor future leaders, similar to Assistant Comptroller Benjamin Lomba after Senior Course 13.

“While I am incredibly ecstatic about their career progression and the honour they’ve brought to the PR family, selfishly, I am already feeling the weight of their exit from the unit. Replacing officers of their calibre is no small task,” he said.

He congratulated Yusuf and Sa’idu, saying: “You have made the entire Nigeria Customs Service and the PR Unit specifically immensely proud. As you transition into this next chapter of mentorship and excellence, know that you carry our highest respect and full support. Go make us proud at the College, gentlemen!”

Senior Course 14 is one of the NCS’ flagship mid-level command courses designed to prepare officers for higher administrative and leadership responsibilities within the Service.
