2027 Elections: NNPP Extends Nomination Form Sales by One Week, Cites INEC Delay

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has extended the start date for the sale of nomination forms for the 2027 general elections by one week, moving it to 17 May 2026.

The adjustment was announced on Monday by NNPP Secretary General, Comrade Ogini Olaposi, in a statement issued in Lagos. He said the directive came from the party’s Board of Trustees and was signed off by founder Dr Boniface Aniebonam.

Olaposi blamed the delay on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s failure to upload the logo of the NNPP leadership led by Dr Agbo Gilbert Major. He urged aspirants to remain calm, saying the issue would be resolved soon.

Collection and return of forms now run from 17 May 2026. Screening dates remain unchanged from the earlier schedule:

Nomination fees for Presidential Aspirants has been fixed as N5m; Governorship – N2.5m; Senate – N1.5m; House of Reps – N1m; House of Assembly – N500,000.

According to the Party, Forms remain free for women and persons with disabilities. All elected officers seeking re-election get automatic tickets after purchasing forms.

The BoT has ordered the National Working Committee to ensure NNPP contests all elective positions in 2027.

The delay reflects the ongoing leadership tussle within NNPP and its impact on the party’s electoral preparations. The party says it’s pushing ahead despite INEC’s holdup.
