PTML Terminal Hands Over ICT-Enabled Office Complex to Customs to Boost Trade Facilitation

By Babatunde Aremu

The Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) has handed over a new, fully furnished ICT-enabled office complex to the Nigeria Customs Service at its Tin Can Island Port terminal.

The handover, done by PTML Managing Director Ascanio Russo to PTML Customs Area Controller Comptroller Joe Anani, fulfils a commitment to provide modern workspace for Customs officers operating at the terminal.

Russo called the project a demonstration of the terminal’s commitment to supporting Customs and improving operational standards.

“We promised to provide additional offices to Customs, and today we are proud to fulfil that commitment with a facility designed to provide a modern, comfortable and highly functional workspace for officers,” he said.

He added that a better work environment for regulatory agencies directly improves productivity, operational effectiveness, and cargo movement at the terminal.

Comptroller Anani said the complex would boost administrative efficiency, officer morale, and operational coordination.

“A modern workplace like this has a direct impact on the efficiency and motivation of officers. This facility will undoubtedly improve our operational capacity and support our mandate of facilitating legitimate trade while ensuring compliance,” he said.

The move reinforces public-private collaboration at Nigerian ports. With Nigeria pushing trade facilitation and port modernisation under AfCFTA, facilities like this are meant to cut delays, improve officer working conditions, and support faster cargo clearance.
