PORT POLICE, CHINESE CONSULATE STRENGTHEN TIES ON MARITIME SECURITY IN LAGOS

The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police, Western Command, CP Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to securing Nigeria’s ports and protecting foreign investors, as she paid a courtesy visit to the Chinese Consulate in Lagos.

The visit, held on Wednesday, June 25, 2026, was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Chinese business community operating within the country’s maritime sector.

CP Agbaminoja, psc, mnips, was received by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Yan Yuqing, who welcomed the initiative and stressed the need for sustained engagement between both institutions.

During discussions, both parties focused on port security, maritime security, and the safety of Chinese nationals and businesses operating within Nigeria’s seaports and logistics corridors.

The Police Commissioner assured the Consulate that the Ports Authority Police, Western Command remains steadfast in safeguarding critical maritime infrastructure, preventing criminal activities, and ensuring a secure environment for legitimate trade.

“Discussions also centered on strengthening information sharing, capacity building, and addressing emerging security concerns that may impact trade facilitation and maritime commerce,” she stated.

Consul General Yan Yuqing expressed appreciation for the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Ports Authority Police, for ensuring the safety of port users, Chinese nationals, and foreign investors.

She reiterated the Consulate’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Police in promoting peace, security, and economic development.

The Command said it remains dedicated to working with all stakeholders to keep Nigeria’s ports safe, secure, and globally competitive as gateways for international trade.
