TINCAN CUSTOMS GENERATES N111.2B IN MAY AS ANANI PLEDGES COMPLIANCE , REVENUE, MODERNISATION IN MAIDEN MEDIA PARLEY

The TINCAN  port command of the Nigeria customs service  has Generated N111.2B Revenue in May , 2026 . The New Area Comptroller of the  Command, JA Anani disclosed this on Wednesday during his Maiden engagement with  the Media at the command headquarters in Lagos

Comptroller Anani  pledged transparency, collaboration, and a technology-driven approach to trade facilitation as he begins his tenure at one of Nigeria’s busest ports.

He described the meeting as a deliberate step to build “stronger bridges of understanding and cooperation” between the Command and the media.

The Controller said the press is not just a channel of communication but a “strategic partner” in shaping public understanding, promoting accountability, and enhancing compliance.

He assured journalists they would be “fully carried along” in the Command’s policies, operations, reforms, and achievements. The Command, he added, will prioritize timely, accurate, and transparent flow of information.

To empower reporters, Anani said the Command will introduce structured training, sensitization workshops, and capacity-building programs. He also charged journalists to uphold professionalism and avoid misinformation, noting that responsible journalism is key to maintaining public trust.

Compt. Anani said his administration will leverage the Nigeria Customs Service modernization drive to strengthen systems, processes, and technology for efficiency and trade facilitation.

He stressed that compliance with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 will be “at the heart of our operations,” promising enforcement that is “firm, fair, and professional.”

On revenue, the Controller said Tincan Command is currently performing commendably, a result he attributed to officer dedication, improved compliance, and better operational efficiency. He vowed to consolidate the gains and surpass achievements of the previous administration.

Anani expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, for the appointment. He praised the CGC’s “visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to reforming and repositioning the Service for greater efficiency and global competitiveness.”

To strengthen media relations, the Controller said the Command’s Public Relations Unit will be tasked with prioritizing all press matters. The unit will maintain continuous interface with journalists, provide timely information, and facilitate access to developments at the port.

“In closing, I wish to reiterate that this Command is open, collaborative, and committed to constructive engagement with all stakeholders, especially the media,” he concluded.
